Interbeek Support trains and counsels some of society’s most vulnerable groups in self-sufficiency and personal achievement. We teach from the heart.
Of all the global goals, SDG #4 (Quality education), SDG #8 (Decent work and economic growth) and SDG #10 (Reduced inequalities) are nearest to our hearts. They not only form the basis of our coaching programs, but we also make them a part of our business operations.
We offer internships within our organization to people who, on paper, might not appear (fully) qualified, but whose mindset and motivation certainly deserve a chance. A perfect example of this is working for us right now. Shwikar is a very determined woman from Sudan who, through her internship, has made herself increasingly irreplaceable. As one of the trainees in our ‘Coach Yourself to Work’ groups, she understood exactly how to put herself front and center, and is now well on her way to a paid position with our integration unit.
Another example of the global goals that we are quite proud of, is how we work together for our integration programs with the JCI network to help bring the outside world in for our trainees, and to get them out into it.
With the help of the JCI network, we were invited to meet Madeleine van Toorenburg, a member of the Lower House (Tweede Kamer) of the Dutch Parliament. That visit gave a much deeper meaning to the word ‘democracy’ for our trainees.
Also through the JCI network, we have been able to organize regular language internships for trainees, to help improve their chances for employment. Shwikar from Sudan, as an example, is well on her way to earning herself a paid position with our integration unit.
